Introduction

The Huriyya Dauda Lawal Initiative (HDLi) is a non-profit organization based in Gusau, Zamfara State, dedicated to uplifting vulnerable communities through education, healthcare, and empowerment. Guided by compassion and service, we strive to restore dignity, inspire hope, and create opportunities for self-reliance and lasting change.

Who Are We?

The Huriyya Dauda Lawal Initiative (HDLi) is a non-profit humanitarian foundation driven by compassion and a commitment to service. We exist to uplift vulnerable communities by bridging gaps in education, healthcare, and empowerment. Through targeted programs and community-centered initiatives, we provide opportunities that inspire hope, restore dignity, and foster self-reliance. At HDLi, we believe that every life matters and every individual deserves the chance to thrive.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower underprivileged communities by creating pathways to growth and self-reliance. We do this by:

  • Supporting Education through scholarships and learning initiatives
  • Promoting Healthcare with medical outreaches and awareness campaigns
  • Driving Sustainable Empowerment programs that equip individuals, especially women and youth, with skills and opportunities to thrive

To build a society where every individual, regardless of background or circumstance, can access quality education, healthcare, and empowerment opportunities.

We envision communities where dignity is preserved, potential is nurtured, and every person is equipped to contribute meaningfully to the growth and wellbeing of society.

Education Program

Education

Education is the foundation of a brighter future. HDLi supports children and youth by:

  • Paying school fees for underprivileged children
  • Providing uniforms, books, and learning materials
  • Supporting literacy campaigns and mentorship programs
Health Program

Health

We believe that good health is a human right, not a privilege. HDLi contributes by:

  • Covering hospital bills and providing financial assistance for treatments
  • Supplying medication to the sick and vulnerable
  • Supporting poor babies with milk, clothing, and diapers
  • Promoting health awareness and preventive care
Empowerment Program

Empowerment

We focus on initiatives that give people the tools to support themselves and their families:

  • Providing food items and relief materials to struggling families
  • Offering small business support and grants for women
  • Facilitating vocational and skills training programs for youth and women

Hygiene Kit Distribution

Hygiene Kit Distribution

In commemoration of World Hygiene Day, HDLi distributed over 1,500 menstrual hygiene kits and exercise books to students at the Government Girls Secondary School in Tsafe.

  • Promoted menstrual health awareness

Women Agriculture Empowerment

Women Agriculture Empowerment

HDLi launched the Women Agriculture Program to empower women as key contributors to food security. Over 200 women were supported with cash assistance and training.

Malnourished Babies Support

Malnourished Babies Support

In collaboration with the Office of the First Lady of Zamfara State, HDLi provided baby feeding supplements, clothing, and diapers to malnourished babies across the state.

Head of Program Management
Mr. Abdullahi is a dynamic and multifaceted professional who has honed diverse skills that span from consulting in business development, entrepreneurship, strategic planning and market analysis. With over a decade of experience in the financial services sector, Mr. Abdullahi has carved a niche as an astute leader, innovator and financial manager. Mr. Abdullahi has Masters in Risk management & Development studies – A.B.U Zaria, Masters in Oil & Gas Management – Coventry University, England and currently running an MBA with Finance & Investment specialization – A.B.U Zaria. Mr. Abdullahi is a chartered manager with Chartered management institute (CMI), UK and also an Independent Non-Executive Director with MAAL Microfinance Bank. As The Director of Program Management at HDLI , Abdullahi brings to bear his experience to propel the HDLI to achieve its mission and vision

Project Manager
Ms Clara Chapp-Jumbo is an accomplished Project Manager with over 5 years of experience driving cross-functional teams and delivering high-impact projects across diverse industries. Leveraging expertise in management, she excels at navigating complex environments and fostering collaborative partnerships. Clara Chapp-Jumbo has a Master's Degree in International Relations and Management from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. She received her undergraduate degree from the Eastern Mediterranean University, Cyprus. Currently she is managing editor at Opulent Magazine Africa and head of its division in Abuja, Nigeria. As a project manager at HDLI, Clara Chapp-Jumbo brings a keen eye and a penchant for success to drive HDLI towards all its goals.

HAUWA HALIRU HASSAN

Legal Adviser
Hauwa Haliru-Hassan is the Chief Executive Officer at the Nigeria Governors’ Spouse Forum Secretariat, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to advocacy efforts aimed at improving the lives of women and children in Nigeria. In addition to her role as CEO, she also serves as the Director of Gender Affairs at the Nigeria Governors’ Forum Secretariat. With more than 20 years of work experience, Hauwa has established herself as both a legal practitioner, a human resources specialist and a gender advocate. For nearly a decade, Hauwa has been actively engaged in the gender sector. Her dedication to gender-related issues has made her a prominent figure in efforts to promote equality and empowerment in Nigeria. She leads the advocacy on Women Economic Empowerment as well as Women in leadeship at the the NGF Secretraiat. She is recognised for her strategic leadership in designing and implementing impactful programmes that address systemic barriers faced by women and children. Hauwa has collaborated with various stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organisations, and international partners, to champion policies and initiatives that advance social justice and inclusivity. Her commitment to driving sustainable change is further demonstrated through her innovative approaches to program development and her ability to foster collaborative networks across diverse sectors. Hauwa’s influence extends beyond advocacy, as she regularly contributes to the formulation of national policies and the implementation of capacity-building initiatives that strengthen institutional responses to gender-based challenges. Her work continues to inspire a new generation of leaders, reinforcing the importance of inclusive governance and the pursuit of equitable opportunities for all Nigerians.

With a degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) from Eastern Mediterranean University, Cyprus, he brings a unique blend of technology and financial acumen to his role. In his position at the Huriyya Dauda Lawal Initiative (HDLI), Mr. Ibrahim Lawal plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations, ensuring accountability, and optimizing resource allocation to support HDLI's mission. His deep understanding of financial systems and data-driven insights helps the organization meet its financial goals, ultimately driving the success of various projects that impact the lives of girls, children, and women in Zamfara State.

Monitoring & Evaluation
Mr. Bilal Abdulrahman serves as the Head of Monitoring and Evaluation at the Huriyya Dauda Lawal Initiative (HDLI), bringing a strong background in data analysis and project assessment. He holds a degree in Political Science and International Studies from Sokoto State University and is currently pursuing a Master's in Strategic and Corporate Media Studies at SEGi University, Malaysia. In his role at HDLI, Mr. Bilal Abdulrahman leverages his expertise in data analysis to track and evaluate the effectiveness of various programs, ensuring they deliver measurable impact. His analytical approach ensures that HDLI's efforts remain aligned with its objectives of empowering girls, children, and women, while meeting key performance indicators and contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
